Burning NFT generally means you want to delete the NFT from your wallet. Since blockchain transactions are immutable and transparent, you can’t simply delete an NFT.

Instead, by “burning NFT” most people mean sending it to the address that you don’t control, such as 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000, which is considered the most common “burn address”.

Sloika platform regards tokens sent to 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000 as burned.

To send an NFT to this address, simply open any wallet app (we use Rainbow wallet for your mobile phone, or Metamask for your browser extension), select NFT you want to “burn”, and send it to 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000.

Using Rainbow wallet

In an app, such as Rainbow wallet, select the NFT you want to burn, and tap “Send”. In the next screen, enter 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000, tap “Review” and tap and hold “Hold to Send”. Every such transaction will review a gas fee.

Using Opensea

You can delete any NFT using Opensea as well. On the NFT page, click “Transfer” icon on the top right. In the address field, enter 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD, and click Transfer. Once you confirm your transaction, your NFT will be sent to this burn address.

Note: Using the other burn address (0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000) will result in error on Opensea side.
